Privacy
The short version
StellarDogs is built so that as little as possible becomes known about you:
- The site loads nothing from third-party servers. No Google fonts, no advertising scripts, no tracking pixels. What your browser loads comes from StellarDogs itself.
- No cookies are set and you are not tracked across sites.
- The artificial intelligence that writes your horoscope knows neither your dog's name nor yours. It only receives breed, star sign and sex. The names are inserted into the finished text by your own browser.
- Without an account, nothing about you is stored. The horoscope is deleted after two days and contains no name anyway.

If you only visit the site
As with any website, your device transmits technical data to the server when you open it: IP address, time, the address requested, browser type and operating system. Without these the page cannot be delivered to you.
Our host Netlify turns these server logs into anonymous visitor counts. No script runs in your browser and no cookie is set; the figures come from the server's own logs.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the technical operation and security of the site and the question whether and how it is used.
If you create a horoscope
You enter your dog's name, sex, breed and – if you like – a date. Optionally you can also give your own first name, date of birth and sex to get a fourth category about the two of you.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – without these details the horoscope you asked for cannot be created.
Retention: The finished horoscope is kept for at most two days and then deleted automatically. It is linked to no dog and no person: it is stored under a key made of date, language, breed, star sign and sex. All female beagles with the star sign Leo share the same text on a given day.
If you create an account
- Your email address
- First name, date of birth and sex, if you provide them
- Your dogs with name, sex, breed and date (up to five)
- Your language setting
- if you subscribe to the daily email: the consent with time and wording
There is no password. You sign in with a link we email to you.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Retention: until you delete your account. You can do that yourself at any time under “My account”; profile and dogs go with it.
Accounts with an unconfirmed email address are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Accounts are held at Supabase, data centre Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The daily horoscope email
If you subscribe, we send you an email every morning with the horoscopes of your dogs.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – your consent.
The consent only takes effect when you click the link in the first email. That also confirms the address is yours.
You can withdraw it at any time, without signing in: every such email carries an unsubscribe link, and many email programs show an unsubscribe button of their own. The withdrawal takes effect immediately; it does not affect the lawfulness of what was sent before. You can also switch the email off under “My account” or write to info@stellardogs.com.
Sending is handled by Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH), servers in the EU.
If you give us feedback
Under each part of the horoscope there are two thumbs, and at the very bottom you can write to us. Both are optional.
The thumbs only record that somebody found this one part good or bad – along with the breed, the star sign and the language. No name, no address, no IP address, no identifier. The thumbs cannot be traced to a person, not even by us.
The message stores what you write. Adding an email address is optional and serves only to let us reply. We delete it automatically after 90 days; the message itself stays on anonymously so that we can keep learning from it. The message is also sent to us by email.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in finding out whether the texts are any good. Where you give us your address voluntarily, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
So that nobody can distort the count with thousands of clicks, the site remembers a hash of your IP address for one hour – a string of characters the address cannot be reconstructed from, and which after that hour matches nobody. The IP address itself is not stored.
You can ask us to delete your message at any time – info@stellardogs.com.
What is stored on your device
StellarDogs sets no cookies. The site keeps four entries in your browser's local storage:

All four serve functions you triggered yourself. They are not used for audience measurement or advertising, and they pass nothing to third parties. Under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDG no consent is required for this. That is why StellarDogs has no consent banner – there is nothing to consent to.
You can delete these entries at any time in your browser settings. The site keeps working, but forgets your dog and signs you out.
The artificial intelligence
The horoscope texts are written by Claude, an AI service by Anthropic PBC, USA.
What is sent there: breed (or breeds for mixes), star sign and sex of the dog, the kind of date, the language, today's date – and, if you provided them, your star sign and your sex.
What is expressly not sent: your dog's name, your name, dates of birth, your email address.
The AI writes a placeholder wherever a name should appear. The names are inserted on your own device, or when your daily email is put together. Nothing that could identify a person reaches Anthropic.

All four are processors under Art. 28 GDPR.
Transfer to the USA: Netlify and Anthropic are based in the United States. The transfer is based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The level of data protection in the USA does not match the European one in every respect; in particular, US authorities may access data under certain conditions. As described above, no personal data reaches Anthropic.
The address above is a c/o address of a service that receives and forwards post (Clear-Media UG, Sankt Augustin). It only receives what you expressly send there – it has no access to your account and none to this site's data.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data held about you (Art. 15), to rectification (Art. 16), to erasure (Art. 17), to restriction of processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).
Consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time (Art. 7(3)), with effect for the future.
For access, rectification and objection, a message to info@stellardogs.com is enough. You can also delete your account yourself, under “My account”.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent one is:

Automated decisions
There is no automated decision-making or profiling with legal effect. The horoscopes are entertainment.
Children and young people
StellarDogs is intended for adults. Anyone under 16 should only create an account with their parents' consent.
Changes
This policy applies from 11. Oktober 2026. If the site is extended, it will be updated.
